08/06/2024: OSTARIA CLOSES AT 3 PM

Castel Ringberg is Elena Walch’s most important single vineyard. Located above Lake Caldaro, in the heart of the Alto Adige viticulture, the climate here at about 350m above sea level is considered mild with strong day-night fluctuations. The calcareous soils are poor, which is a stimulus for the vine!
The castle itself was built by the Austrian Habsburgs in 1620 in the then fashionable Italian Renaissance style for noble residences as a hunting lodge. Today it is the seat of a Ostaria, a wine shop and also houses two cellars, our “Schlosskeller” and “Gutskeller” in which the award-winning single-vineyard wines mature. Recently, the Gutskeller has been extensively restored and for the first time in 150 years, has been used again for the 2022 harvest!
